Job Description

As the Controller at Pro-Vac… 

You will provide leadership in accounting, finance, and business to drive the company’s performance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee all accounting functions, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings. While some responsibilities are routine, others require adaptability and expertise in various areas. You will be responsible for enhancing and optimizing accounting systems, processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

The Controller must demonstrate humility, collaborating effectively across the organization. You should be equally adept at working on strategic initiatives as well as managing the details, with the ability to adjust your approach as needed. Strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication, both formally and informally, are essential. You will engage with colleagues, investors, and the board of directors and play a pivotal role in the company’s future growth, including involvement in potential Merger & Acquisition (M&A) activities.   If this sounds like you, apply today!

**What you'll LOVE doing... 

  • Improving financial reporting and further optimizing processes and systems for high-quality and efficient financial closes.
  • Strengthening accounting functions by enhancing systems, policies, metrics, KPIs, and reporting packages.
  • Conducting proactive analysis of accounting operations across the business and ensuring report accuracy and compliance.
  • Designing, executing, and overseeing internal controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with US GAAP, statutory GAAP, IRS regulations, and other standards.
  • Leading, motivating, and developing an accounting team while making staffing decisions as needed.
  • Demonstrating integrity and providing daily leadership and guidance to the team.
  • Creating a culture that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality employees.
  • Leading financial reporting for private equity investors, lenders, and regulatory filings.
  • Communicating effectively with investors and the board of directors when needed.
  • Supporting M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
  • Leading audits and collaborating with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Managing working capital, mitigating risk, and driving process and technology improvements.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear and consistent communication.
  • Reviewing and optimizing the finance team's structure and responsibilities.

The BEST Candidate Will Have...

  • A B.S. in Accounting/Finance or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA credentials (strongly preferred).
  • Controller experience at a similar-sized company (required); experience in industrial services preferred.
  • Experience in construction or oil and gas (a plus).
  • Proven managerial experience, with a track record of building and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to interact effectively with staff and external parties.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting (GAAP) and reporting standards.
  • Proven ability to manage a sound financial closing process and deliver timely financial statements.
  • Experience working with private equity investors (preferred).
  • Expertise in consolidating and implementing enterprise financial systems.
  • Experience working successfully with external auditors.
  • Strong Excel skills (required).
  • Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems (required).
