Training and Development Specialist Location Fridley, MN :

Reviva Inc., a family-owned leader in remanufactured diesel engines and components for over 75 years, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 1st Shift Production Technician to join our growing Portland OR team! As a vital member of our production team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our remanufacturing processes.

Summary:

  • The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for the design and development of training programs and acts as the lead instructor for training provided to Reviva employees and contract workers. Once our training program is established in our 5 locations there would be additional organizational development responsibilities. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources and the person hired will rotate between working in our Fridley and Brooklyn Center locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, process owners, and subject matter experts to define, maintain, and improve training programs ensuring the right training for the right audience.
  • Design effective classroom and on the job training aligned with Company objectives.
  • Lead weekly new hire training for production staff.
  • Identify and lead ongoing training for existing employees to ensure everyone has the information they need to be successful in their role.
  • Partner with department leaders to develop a consistent on the job training program to continue training new hires once they start to work in their department and current employees who move into a new area.
  • Create a train the trainer program for Team Leads to ensure they are prepared to train employees to perform jobs safely to meet customer expectations.
  • Develop a method to measure aptitude and skills needed to be certified to work in each area within manufacturing.
  • Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements. Provide reporting to leadership as required.
  • Develop and monitor metrics to help the organization understand the effectiveness of our training.
  • Gather feedback from trainers and trainees to identify areas of improvement.
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment.
  • Research and recommend new training methods, including classroom, hands on, video, etc.
  • Identify and create training and development for areas such as leadership, safety, new products, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Organizational Development or related area and / or 1 - 3 years' experience creating and conducting training, including classroom and on-the-job training in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working with engines or related mechanical assemble preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to create the technical training content required for engine remanufacturing.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to keep trainees engaged.
  • Ability to work with people of various levels of skills and intelligence.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic to be able to work independently and simultaneously on multiple projects.
  • Well organized with the ability to shift from one topic to another with ease.
  • Results oriented person that looks for constant ways to improve.
  • Able to support implementation of new processes and new learning technologies to drive training into the flow of work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a wide variety of people.
  • Able to partner and build relationships to influence teams to work together, share best practices and develop and drive effective training.
  • Willingness to work on the floor in a heavy manufacturing environment to ensure we can document and teach critical work processes.
  • Good working knowledge of engines preferred.
  • Actively work to ensure quality is ensured while minimizing waste.
  • Desire to succeed and a flexible “can do” attitude.

Work Environment:

In office and Fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing setting. The environment on the shop floor is usually loud, hot and humid in the summer months and involves standing on cement floors with exposure to chemicals and metal particles. PPE required on manufacturing floor at all times. Will also spend time operating computer and software systems and sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
